Air-conditioned, self catering Apartments with the option to book breakfast.  Star graded units have private entrances in park-like gardens near the mountain with Dstv, Wi-Fi and secure parking on site.  Most units have fully equipped kitchens and barbeque facilities are available, providing complete living spaces in the Karoo, and a perfect base to conduct business, explore the area or a short term home!

 

Tastefully furnished, modern with a touch of period furniture. Our feather and down duvets are sublime, and spoiling continues with crisp, white percale linen and thoughtful additions.

Centrally situated, opposite the cross on the mountain, you can almost touch the kaleidoscope of green with the best views of Boschberg.  The business centre, restaurants and supermarkets are within a 100m stroll up our pedestrian lane on the property. 

 

Vehicle entrance is situated near the mountain with hiking and biking trails.  A short walk or cycle will get you to the Walter Battiss Art Museum,  Old Parsonage Museum, Golf Club, Schools, Churches and Bowling Club. Simply park your vehicle, and enjoy the sheer luxury of being in walking - or cycling distance of most venues in our village and experience the best of both worlds.

Fish Eagle’s Rest offers 2 self-contained units, all modern and tastefully decorated.  All units have a patio or private garden and a private entrance.  These units give you freedom and independence to come and go as you wish.  Guests have the option between self-catering or bed and breakfast.

Sunset is a spacious studio apartment with en suite bathroom and a super king size bed with the option to be converted into two single beds. The parking is off street. Sunset has it’s own braai and patio.

Aloe is a beautiful studio apartment with en suite bathroom and a queen size extra length bed.  The parking is off street. This unit has a luscious garden and private braai area. Both kitchenettes are fully equipped with bar fridge, microwave oven with grill, toaster, kettle and snappy chef cooker top.

We offer a 32” flat screen TV, DSTV commercial, free Wi Fi, digital safe, electric blanket, fan and hair dryer.  All bedding is luxurious oxford percale white linen.

The units are serviced and cleaned daily on weekdays excluding public holidays.

We feel privileged to live on such a beautiful property and invite you to explore our extensive garden with its majestic Oak and Yellowwood trees. Relax on the lawns surrounded by mass-plantings of agapanthus, irises, arum lilies, red-hot pokers and cannas.

 

Feel free to wander through the farm vegetable gardens (a work in progress). Venture into the Berry House and when the blackberries are in season, we’ll provide you with a basket for your pickings.

 

Stop by at the free range chickens which provide our nutritious breakfast eggs. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting, amongst others, the paradise flycatcher, the malachite kingfisher, three owl species and the resident fish eagle pair.

Four spacious luxury rooms, all en suite with fresh contemporary country decor. All rooms have a hospitality tray with complimentary bottled water, percale linen and limited toiletries.

One self-catering cottage sleeps two adults and two children (under 18 years) with bathroom facilities (shower only), fully equipped kitchen with separate dining and lounge areas.

Gate 66 is offers guest a super safe, functional, and comfortable space to relax in and situated on 6 erven, it boasts a beautiful view of the mountain. With a remote controlled electric gate, multiple security beams, and cameras, our parking is secure and very safe.

Guest can choose between the Flat and Room 2. The Flat is spacious, with a queen size bed; open plan kitchen which is fully equipped; and a full bathroom with bath and shower.  It has a private entrance, and there is a braai facility on the stoep.  It has a flat screen TV, with full Dstv, and free WiFi. The Flat includes a couch in the room, as well as a small workstation for those who need to attend to business whilst travelling.

Room 2 is luxurious space with a king size bed, offering guests a bathroom with shower, and a small kitchenette which includes a fridge, microwave and kettle. 

It has a private entrance with a beautiful view of the mountain; and there is a flat screen TV with full Dstv and free WiFi.

There is a swimming pool on the premises.

Glen Avon Farm, near the historic little town of Somerset East in South Africa’s malaria-free Eastern Cape, lies at the foot of Boschberg Mountain and provides a perfect environment for a farm holiday.

It also offers gracious accommodation in its historic cottages. Being close to both Somerset East and the R63 it is very accessible. Stately mountains, lush valleys, forests, rock formations, streams and delightful vistas make an exhilarating environment for a farm holiday for those who love nature and what it has to offer. Birding is excellent and hiking opportunities of all degrees abound. Lovers of flora and fauna will find plenty to interest them while those who like animals will enjoy our farm life. Our guest accommodation consists of two restored cottages with self-catering and bed and breakfast as well as the new Garden Close annexe which comprise of a semi-selfcatering en suite bedroom with an extra bed (sleeps 3).

 

The dining room at the main farmhouse, where B&B guests are served meals. Hart Cottage is a garden cottage that is an original 1817 thatched wattle and daub dwelling. It is set in a garden amongst oak trees and white stinkwoods, and gives a spectacular view of Avon Head across the pastures. This cottage has a spacious lounge/dining room. It has three bedrooms sleeping five, one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.

 

Pecan Cottage is a cosy cottage that is set amongst large pecan trees and lush rolling pastures. It has three bedrooms sleeping six, 2 bathrooms, an open plan living room with a fully equipped kitchen.
 
If swimming in the dams or river isn’t your style, perhaps a refreshing plunge in the swimming pool at the main farmhouse? Both cottages have fireplaces for winter evenings and braai facilities.

Somerset East is a small town, so nothing is far away, but what is better than parking your vehicle, and being able to walk to the centre of town in less than 5 minutes.  Not that you need to walk to town to have a delicious meal, just ask Alan and Annabelle what’s on the menu if you get to the guesthouse early enough.  

 

Relax in the garden or cool down in your air-conditioned room, the choice is up to you...cold beer or perhaps one of the whiskies from the pub?  The selection is up to over 70 whiskies now! The pub is fully licensed.  Food can vary from a full three course meal to finger snacks.

Visit our website to view the guesthouse rooms or self-catering cottages, and have a browse through the menu to whet your appetite!

 

Small private functions of between 6 and 20 people can also be held at the Angler and Antelope.  Being a totally private venue it is ideal for select corporate functions.

Wilton Guest Farm comes as a considerable surprise to the visitor. This baronial style manor house was constructed during the wool boom of the 1950s and stands as a monument to the enterprise of those days.

With all its nooks and crannies, two staircases, long corridors and lots of rooms, one’s first reaction is to wish that one had grown up in a house like this.

 

The accommodation at Wilton Guest Farm is plentiful and can comfortably sleep up to 14 people. There are bedrooms on both the ground and first floors. On the ground floor is a self-contained suite with with a double bed and a single bed, its own bathroom with a choice of both bath and shower and a separate toilet.

 

Large windows offer views in three directions as well as letting in lots of light. Upstairs are four en-suite bedrooms including the huge former master bedroom with its bay windows, magnificent views and sitting area. There is one additional bedroom which shares the bathroom of one of the other bedrooms as a family suite.

 

Accommodation is offered on a bed and breakfast basis to individual and couples. Dinner can also be provided upon prior request.

 

Groups are welcome at Wilton where they stay on a self-catering basis for which the facilities are more than adequate.
